Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease
characterized by progressive cognitive deterioration and
neuropsychiatric symptoms. It is the most common type of
dementia. This brain disorder gradually destroys a person's
memory, ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate
and carry out daily activities. The overall loss of intellectual
and social abilities is probably attributed to abnormal
clumps (plaques) and tangled bundles of nerve fibers composed
of misplaced proteins. |
