About Detoxification
Detoxification refers to the elimination of potentially
toxic substances from the body. Toxins are converted into
less harmful compounds and excreted via stools or urine.
Toxins are produced in the body, during normal physiological
functions such as breathing, digestion and metabolism, or
due to drugs, pollution, smoking, alcohol and inhaling of
harmful chemicals.
These toxins need to be eliminated from the system to avoid
a build-up that can lead to various illnesses, hormonal
imbalance, metabolic disorders or immune system impairment.
Detoxification can be done by following a prescribed diet
along with natural remedies. The aim is to reduce the chemicals
ingested, increase the amount of antioxidants in the body,
and thus eliminate toxins from the body.
